ECNS Global Consultants is an emergent leader in digital substation transformation, dedicated to driving innovation and sustainability in the power industry. Our team has an extensive background in substation protection and control design and engineering as well as on-site construction support and commissioning. 

Our primary area of expertise centers on the design and implementation of digital substations, employing IEC 61850 Standard and SEL TiDL technology. As our organization expands, we are actively seeking a Senior Protection and Control Engineer with experience in digital substations, spanning from initial concept development, engineering design, and implementation to ongoing maintenance and technical support.

Role Description

We are seeking a full-time Junior Substation Protection and Control Engineer to be based in the United States. As a Substation Protection and Control Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and commissioning substation protection, control, and automation schemes for our clients. You will be expected to work closely with other team members, suppliers, and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate substation automation into broader grid management systems.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in digital substation technology and contribute to our innovation initiatives.
• Develop conceptual single line diagrams and network diagrams. 
• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of digital substations for our clients.
• Configure protection relay devices from various vendors, including SEL, Siemens, ABB, GE, and Schneider.
• Demonstrate proficient troubleshooting skills in protection and control, automation, and relay networks.
• Develop commissioning procedures for efficient digital substation deployment.
• Lead onsite testing and commissioning activities.

Required Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (P.E.).
• Excellent communication and people skills for client development and vendor interactions.
• Excellent communication and people skills for client development and vendor interactions.
• Strong technical writing and presentation skills in English. 
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of electric power experience leading diverse substation protection and control projects.
• Configuration expertise of protection relay devices from vendors such as ABB/Hitachi, SEL, and Siemens.
• Strong critical thinking skills in protection and control, including relay networks.
• Ability to lead and mentor teams in digital substation projects. 
• Must be authorized to work in the US and travel nationally/internationally up to 50% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Actively participate in technical committees.
• Authored or co-authored IEEE/IEC or industry technical papers.
