JUNIOR SUBSTATION COMMISSIONING TECHNICIAN OR ENGINEER – SEVERAL U.S. LOCATIONS - Full time

About Us:

ECNS Global Consultants is an emergent leader in digital substation, dedicated to driving innovation and sustainability in the power industry. Our team has an extensive background in substation protection and control design and engineering as well as on-site construction support and commissioning. 

Our primary area of expertise centers on the design and implementation of digital substations, employing IEC 61850 Standard and SEL TiDL technology. As our organization expands, we are seeking Junior and Senior Substation Commissioning Engineers in several U.S. locations.


Role Description

As a Commissioning Engineer based in the United States, you will be responsible for testing, and commissioning substation protection and control systems for our clients. You will also be expected to work closely with other team members, suppliers, and contractors.

· Excellent troubleshooting skills in protection and control, automation, HMI, or relay networks.

· Review substation drawings and perform point-to-point checks.

· Develop substation equipment and protective relay commissioning and testing procedures.

· Modify, test, and commission substation Data Concentrator Units (DCU) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) from various vendors such as SEL, Schneider, Siemens, ABB, and Hitachi. 

· Modify, test, and commission protection relay devices from various vendors, such as SEL, Schneider, Siemens, ABB, Hitachi, and GE.

· Download Sequence of Event records and COMTRADE files as part of relay event analysis.


Required Qualifications

· Excellent communication and people skills for client development and vendor interactions.

· Strong organizational skills and technical writing in English. 

· Strong critical thinking skills in substation protection and control.

· Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or proven hands-on field experience.

· Minimum of 5 years for of electric power experience completing substation protection and control commissioning projects.

· Configuration and testing experience of protection relay and automation devices from different vendors such as ABB, Hitachi, SEL, Schneider, or Siemens.

· Troubleshoot protection/automation schemes and validate in-service conditions.

· Must be authorized to work in the US and travel nationally up to 50% of the time.


Physical Requirements

· Ability to work in outside environments with varying climates.

· Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, squat, climb, and use arm and hand movements.

· Ability to carry tools and handle materials/equipment of up to 50 pounds.

· Ability to work at heights on lifts, and/or stepladders.


Preferred Qualifications

· NETA training or certification.
