As our organization expands, we are actively seeking a Principal Instrumentation and Control Engineer with experience in delivering process-oriented projects in the utility and mission-critical sectors, spanning from initial concept development, engineering design, and implementation to commissioning and then maintenance and technical support.
Role Description
We are seeking a full-time Principal Instrument and Control Engineer. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, commissioning monitoring and control schemes for our clients. You will be expected to work closely with other team members, suppliers, and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Lead multi-discipline technical teams and serve as a Technical Instrumentation and Controls Principal Engineer for process control program delivery.
- Engage with clients as a trusted advisor to achieve their I&C project goals.
- Lead the design, implementation, and commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems for utilities and industrial customers.
- Provide technical guidance to ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices.
- Develop Electro-Mechanical and Control specification documentation, P&ID loop schemes, and Sequence Of Operations (SOO).
- Configure or review Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) from Schneider Electric or Allen Bradley as well as learn other controller platforms as required.
- Configure or review Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition programs from Schneider Electric, GE, or, Inductive Automation as well as learn other HMI/SCADA software as required by a specific customer.
- Develop testing and commissioning procedures for efficient project deployment.
- Lead or attend Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
- Assist with recruitment and training new hires.
- Develop and lead instrumentation and control maintenance training programs.
- Drive to become a subject matter expert in IEC 61850 standard.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.E.).
- Excellent communication and people skills for client development and vendor interactions.
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills in English.
- Bachelor’s degree or Higher in Mechanical or Controls Engineering.
- Minimum of 15 years of executing and leading diverse process control projects in Power Generation, Mission Critical Facilities, Water and Wastewater, Oil & Gas, or Industrial environments.
- Diverse configuration expertise of PLC using Allen Bradley, Emerson, Siemens, or Schneider products.
- Diverse configuration expertise in HMI and SCADA using AVEVA, COPADATA, Inductive Automation, or Schneider software.
- Strong critical thinking skills in process control troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Actively participate in technical committees.
- Authored or co-authored IEEE/IEC or industry technical papers.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus.
